JMIRx Med and JMIR Publications are thrilled to announce and welcome Dr Fuqing Wu, PhD, as editor-in-chief for JMIRx Med.
Dr Wu has been an important contributor to the journal’s editorial board. In his new role as editor-in-chief, he will be involved in setting the strategic direction for the journal and its editorial board, as well as raising the journal’s visibility and impact.
Fuqing Wu is an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where his research focuses on environmental and genomic surveillance of viral diseases. His work integrates molecular virology, genomic sequencing, and biostatistical methods to advance wastewater-based epidemiology for tracking pathogen transmission, viral evolution, and community health. His research supports public health preparedness by enabling early detection of emerging infectious threats and informing evidence-based interventions.
