Retraction: Comparison Between Male and Female Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault in Relation to Age at Admission to Therapy, Age of Onset, and Age at Last Sexual Assault: Retrospective Observational Study

The JMIR Publications Editorial Office is retracting the article “Comparison Between Male and Female Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault in Relation to Age at Admission to Therapy, Age of Onset, and Age at Last Sexual Assault: Retrospective Observational Study” [1] due to concerns regarding the ethics approval and informed consent processes.

Author Ali M AL-Asadi stated that ethics approval had been provided by the University of South Africa and that consent from participants was given verbally and implied in the signing of consent for treatment. The Editorial Office requested information from the University of South Africa, who indicated that they were not aware of the publication and that the ethics approval they provided the author for his doctoral study did not apply to the published article.

In light of this information, the journal can no longer verify that the data reported in the article were collected and used under the ethics approval and informed consent conditions represented in the published article. Thus, the Editorial Office has concluded that the article does not adhere to JMIR Publications Ethics Policies, and as such, is retracted.
